Sassy & Brassy Women
Strange True Tours of New Orleans is proud to announce the latest addition to our roster.
The Women of New Orleans History Tours.
This is all about the sassy and brassy women who made their own way through the world, leaving behind stories and legacies that will never be forgotten.
Louisiana laws and codes were quite different giving Women rights of inheritance and property ownership not found in the United States of America at the time.
This created an environment second to none in the world at that time. The French and Spanish figured out a way to keep an Octoroon or Quadroon mistress in a custom known as Placage.
In the 1700s and early 1800s African females were property owners and had legal rights for their illegitimate children.
Come join us as we explore further the Women of New Orleans History.
